Ingredients

Scale
  • Wet Ingredients:
    • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
    • ½ cup (100g) brown sugar, packed
    • 2 large eggs
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Dry Ingredients:
    • 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Add-ins:
    • 1 ½ cups (270g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the Butter and Sugars:
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla:
Mix in the eggs, one at a time, until fully incorporated. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the Chocolate Chips:
Gently fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Shape the Cookies:
Scoop large portions of dough (about 1/3 cup each) and roll into balls. Slightly flatten them onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2-3 inches apart.
  7. Bake:
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and lightly golden, but the centers remain soft.
  8. Cool and Serve:
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For an extra indulgent touch, press a few chocolate chips onto the tops of the cookies before baking.
  • These cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or frozen for longer storage.
