Description

Vanilla paste is a rich and aromatic ingredient that enhances your baking and desserts with intense vanilla flavor. Made with just a few simple ingredients, this homemade vanilla paste is an affordable and natural alternative to store-bought varieties. Perfect for cakes, cookies, ice creams, and more, this delightful recipe captures the essence of vanilla in a thick and luscious paste that’s easy to make and store.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 vanilla beans
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable glycerin (optional, for smooth consistency)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Vanilla Beans:
    • Slice each vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out the seeds using the back of a knife. Set the seeds aside.
    • Cut the remaining pods into small pieces.
  2. Create the Base Mixture:
    • In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Simmer with Vanilla Pods:
    • Add the chopped vanilla pods to the sugar syrup. Simmer gently for 10 minutes, allowing the vanilla pods to infuse the mixture.
  4. Blend the Mixture:
    • Transfer the syrup and vanilla pods to a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth.
  5. Strain the Paste:
    • Pass the blended mixture through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean bowl to remove any coarse pieces.
  6. Combine Ingredients:
    • Stir in the reserved vanilla seeds, vanilla extract, and vegetable glycerin (if using) until fully incorporated.
  7. Store and Enjoy:
    • Transfer the paste to a sterilized jar or airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 6 months.

Notes

  • For a more intense flavor, allow the vanilla paste to rest for 24 hours before using.
  • Adjust the consistency by adding a bit more water or glycerin if desired.
  • This recipe can be doubled or halved depending on your needs.
